The Art of the Edit...

Victor Fleming:

"Good editing makes a Director look good. Great editing makes a
film look like it wasn't directed at all."

Jean Luc Goddard:

"Editing is the transformation of chance into destiny."

Not that we want to put Directors out of business, or move into a spiritual plane, but these two quotes describe

an editor's ability to create a highly complicated single entity from many disparate parts while giving the appearance of being effortless.

Of course, like most "effortless endeavors", from knocking out a tune on the bar piano to whipping off a quick caricature sketch, it takes both an innate ability and years of dedicated practice to make it look easy.

At CLAi we are big believers in constantly learning, practicing and refining our art so that we can push our creative boundaries that much further.
